Timber Land

(5M 4W)
Hal is in trouble.  He’s driven 30 straight hours north to Bangor and arrived at the doorstep of his retired civil rights activist grandparents.  Bev and Morris take him in with open arms– after all, he’s there because his own act of protest has gone awry.   They welcome him to their progressive bookstore, and their enclave of harmlessly self-righteous do-gooders: the lesbian couple, one member of which is gunning for a wedding, and his long-lost, half-Indian cousin who works for the Equal Rights and Justice Center (“the Urge”).   As Hal settles into his new home, he brings fresh perspective to the ways and means of activism that both challenge and excite his newfound Northern family.   He gains refuge; they gain a new ally to their own bevy of social causes.

But when Hal’s past catches up to him in the form of his old team, questions arise as to the nature of his exodus.  Was there more to his flight than simple civil justice?
